As a person that can’t stand getting bug bites, I was very excited to try the Vermont Soap Organics Insect Armor bug spray, even more excited because it was 100% all natural, so no need to worry about what sort of chemicals are contained in this spray.
I followed the directions to apply it and found to be overwhelmed by the strong scent of the bug spray, it was very much similar to being coated in citronella oil. Since it did say to spray liberally, I generously sprayed my clothes 3 times, that certainly seemed to be too much as I needed to leave my sweatshirt at home because the smell was so overwhelming.
The natural oils certainly seem strong enough to keep bugs away just by the pure smell, but it may also keep people away from you since it is so potent. Since my first attempt at applying this bug spray was so overwhelming and irritated my nose so much, I feel a second attempt is at least fair enough to do.
My second attempt to keep bugs away with Insect Armor did work better than the first. At a BBQ a friend and I applied Insect Armor minimally and actually got good results. We ended the night with only 2 or 3 bug bites each, perhaps because of our lack of reapplying during the evening, but surely lessened the amount of bites we could have had without applying anything.
Insect Armor does what it claims by keeping most bugs away, great product if you can get past the overwhelming citronella scent it will keep you bug free.
