Tofurky Kielbasa, Franks, Super Burgers and Pretzels… a Fourth of July Review
On the fourth, a few friends came over for an afternoon BBQ which included some foosball, drinks, Wii, music and relaxation. The BBQ consisted of corn on the cob grilled with a combination of dill and butter, Tofurky Kielbasa and franks, Super Burgers, regular hamburgers (for the meat eaters) and snacks like Newman’s Own Organic Pretzels with a dill dip. Of course, there was beer and margaritas too.
The overall reaction was very positive. I loved the Tofurky brand meatless sausage and franks. The texture is smooth. They grill up easily and get all crispy too. The Kielbasa has the smokey flavor it is known for and the outside shell gets super crunchy on the outside, yet stays tender on the inside. The regular frank is similar and went really well with mustard and onions. I really enjoyed the Super Burger, which is a tempeh burger made from organic rice, organic soybeans, onions, garlic and lemon. The texture was very traditional of tempheh. It’s bumpy and chunky from the beans and the rice, yet moist and easily chewed. I liked it much better than traditional tempeh.
My friends enjoyed their Tofurky Sausages and Franks and we ended up finishing a few bags of the Newman’s Own Organic Pretzels, so they must have been a big hit.
Don’t fret either if you keep Kosher. The Tofurky Franks are Kosher.
