SOYJOY Whole Soy & Fruit Bar-Strawberry, Blueberry, Apple Walnut
I don’t often eat pre-packaged snack bars, always being worried about most of the unpronounceable ingredients, so I steer away from these items unless it’s the only option. That may change since I’ve now tried a variety of SOYJOY natural, real fruit and whole soy bars.
The main ingredient for this snack bar is ground whole soybeans with 4 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. The rest of the ingredients vary depending on what flavor you choose but they are always real fruit and all natural with no artificial colors, flavors, hydrogenated oils or gluten. If the name didn’t lend itself to the main ingredient, I don’t think I would have known that this bar is made with soybeans. It has a dense cake-like texture, which is moist and easily breaks apart. Of their 9 flavor options, I have tried three; Apple Walnut, Strawberry and Blueberry, with Apple Walnut being my least favorite.
Strawberry has a great chewy flavor, with the taste of real dried strawberries, raisins and a hint of chocolate chips. Since I eat strawberries more often than blueberries it may be likely that strawberry is my favorite of the three.
With Blueberry being a close second as my favorite it has the addition of cranberries, as well as the expected blueberries along with a hint of white chocolate chips. Enjoying the amount of fruit in this bar, I think there is no doubt I would enjoy the Berry flavor just as much.
Apple Walnut may fall lastly in my favorite category because of the walnuts, since I prefer nuts to be eaten as a snack and not mixed in my food. I didn’t find that there was as much flavor as the other bars had. To me it lacked actual apple flavor and didn’t seem as moist as the others. Perhaps because of the less variety of fruit that is included in this bar. Just to make sure I didn’t like it as much, I even tried two Apple Walnut bars and still wasn’t a fan at the end of the second bar.
With two out of three flavors being totally fantastic, I encourage you to try these great alternatives to the empty calorie candy bar or sugar laden breakfast bar. They can be found at your local chain food store, no need to find it in a specialty shop. If you’ve tried other flavors we’d love to hear what you thought of them, feel free to comment below.
