Sante America Nail Color

sante america reviews nail polishThe only nail polish I use anymore is eco-friendly nail polish.  It’s the little things that you can do to help your body stay away from chemicals.  Sante America is now one of those brands, which contains no formaldehyde or toluene.

I’ve had great experience with most eco-friendly beauty products I’ve used.  That is unfortunately until now.  I used Sante America’s Oriental No.17 for a manicure for a wedding, then left the polish on as the week progressed.  I had even coating and color for the day of the wedding, but into the second day the nail polish began to flake and chip off.  It is certainly not chip-resistant as they claim.

Not only did the front of my nail, where that usually would chip, but the back of my nail where my cuticle is began chipping and peeling.  That is something that rarely happens to my manicures.  I do very light work with my hands and especially that week, all I did was work on a computer.  So it certainly wasn’t the way I was treating the polish to cause it to chip.

Using a base and topcoat like I always do certainly should have helped.  The fact that the polish didn’t even last a week, since it chipped within a day, with very light use was very disappointing.  Perhaps whatever binding agent they used instead of chemicals was not strong enough.  But I expect such a product to last much longer, and the many other eco-friendly nail polishes that I have used have lasted longer.

I may have gotten the idea that it was not going to be a quality polish when I was applying it, the polish did not spread very well, especially because of the brush.  It held way too much liquid, causing a messy application, even though I wiped most of the brush off before applying it.  If you would like to use an eco-friendly nail polish, I would not suggest trying Sante America’s if you want your manicure or pedicure to last long (or at least longer than 2 days).
