The Moso Bag Air Purifying Bag (200g) is an air filter that covers 90 square feet. The Moso Bag (500g) covers 250 feet. It is in a mesh bag which is contains bamboo charcoal inside. When I first received the product, I really wanted it to smell like lavender or citrus, but that would defeat the purpose of the product. This product was created to purify the air, meaning “no smell” was good.
I decided to use this in my pet area of my old house. I have two dogs and when they come home after a long walk, they smell like “wet dog”. I must admit that at first I was very skeptical with this product. How was a bag supposed to keep air pure of odors, bacteria, harmful pollutants, and allergens? What was this product going to do for the wet dog smell?
I figured I should give it a shot. I left it in the hallway for one month. Even with scrubbing and cleaning the pet area, and using the filter it still smelled a little like “wet dog”. After a month, I still didn’t notice a difference in the smell. I decided to follow the directions and refresh the filter by keeping it in the sunlight.
I started to lose hope, so I did a bit of research on the components of this filter. I learned that bamboo charcoal was used in this product. Did you know that in World War 1, gas masks used charcoal to absorb poisonous gases? I thought that was pretty neat. It would make sense why charcoal is used inside this bag to purify the air. In addition, the bamboo charcoal is known to reduce the effects of gases emitted from paint, carpeting, chemical cleaners and more. I think it is a safe alternative to air fresheners.
However, I was quite disappointed when the scent of “wet dog” wasn’t going away in the pet area. As a final act of hope, I decided to buy another Moso Bag Air filter, and I think it did the trick. The smell wasn’t completely gone, but it was not as strong as before. I think buying another bag was a good decision.
Overall, I do recommend this product. It is eco friendly, sustainable and pretty affordable. After using it for over two months, there was a significant difference in the smell. I highly recommend keeping it in basements that have musty smells or even closets.
