I very rarely eat frozen entrees, but every now and then I grab them for my husband so he can have something different from the typical sandwich to throw into his lunch bag for work. For myself I prefer something fresh and healthy as opposed to packaged and expensive. I recently had the opportunity to try a burrito from Helen’s Kitchen, the beans, rice and cheese with veggies burrito, to be exact.
Here’s what I love about the burritos:
Handmade – seriously!
Made with organic whole wheat tortilla, pinto beans, and peas
Free of MSG and GMO’s
Made in the USA
Those things combined with a list of yummy sounding ingredients like basmati brown rice, onions, Monterey jack cheese, and corn had me salivating a bit to give it a try. I have to be honest and say I was disappointed as the flavor was a little bland for me. I wish it was a bit more spicy as it was lacking the zing I was hoping for in a burrito. Perhaps if I had some salsa, sour cream, and guacamole as condiments and added flavor, I would have been happier with this burrito as my lunch, but unfortunately I didn’t and I wasn’t. I was left feeling a bit dissatisfied and certainly haven’t craved another one since.
