Guayaki Yerba Mate, straight from the Gourd, a review.
In order to truly enjoy yerba mate, one needs to drink it the traditional way? straight from the gourd. Guayaki has a nice and simple way to make this come into fruition for you by way of a Gift Pack. The Gift Pack contains a traditional artisan gourd, stainless steel bombilla, 6 ounces of Guayaki Yerba Mate and instructions for curing, caring for and packing your gourd. If the instructions aren?t enough, check out the video on how to pack your gourd.
I enjoyed my mate last week. The taste is chocolaty, rich, coffee-esque and earthy. The gourd I am currently using is not large, about the size of a large apple, hence refilling the gourd with water is essential. I was able to get about 7 cups of mate until the flavor faded away and turned into a stale tea rather than a yerba mate.
The effects of yerba mate far surpass any other natural beverage. There is a minimal amount of caffeine, it?s proven to induce mental clarity, aid in weight control, fights bad breath and contain may antioxidants.
After consuming yerba mate from my fancy gourd, I felt energetic, but more important free of my normal seasonal allergies.
Yerba Mate is not a new beverage, in fact, it?s the opposite, just ask an Argentinian, but it?s gaining popularity in America and world wide. Go drink a cup for yourself and you can see why.

Nice review, just picked this up today at Kensington Market in Toronto, Canada. Look forward to trying it. The gourds are rather small though, it would be nice to find a larger one to prevent refilling.
Pretty good review!
Also, to the people thinking that the gourds are a bit small: a gourd around the size of the author’s is just fine for personal use. Sure, you have to refill the gourd, but each batch of mate is good for brewing nearly 6-8 gourd-fulls of mate; which is a lot of mate for just one or two people. Trust me. 😉
