I am always looking out for vegan friendly beauty products. When I was asked to review Ellovi, I was pretty ecstatic. Upon opening the product, the first thing I noticed was the delicious scent. It smells like macadamia cookies. I love the scent so much; I wish their company sold candles.
After using this product for months, I have to say that I am totally in love with it. Even on my eczema prone skin, this Ellovi Body Butter did not irritate me at all. In addition, this product provides Spf15 protection. I was pretty excited to hear feedback from others so last month, I decided to bring this product to a party.
I asked a few of my friends to try the product with me. We all agreed that it kept our skin pretty moisturized. However there were two downfalls, first, the product has an initial greasy feel to it. I figured that is because it is free of preservatives, which I will focus on again later. Second, I kept it in the car during a hot summer day and the product started to melt like real butter. After putting it in a cool room, the consistency went back to normal. Though I didn’t’ like the greasiness of it and the fact that it melted in my car, I think the benefits of the product outweigh my dislike towards the initial texture.
One thing I love about the product is that is made of Macadamia Nut, Coconut, Marula Oil, Shea and Hempseed. Two ingredients that I love are Shea and Marula Oil. Shea Butter is known to moisturize. Shea contains Vitamin E. It has been used in many beauty products because of it’s moisturizing properties. In addition, this product is made of Marula oil.
Marula Trees are indigenous to Madagascar and Southern Africa. For centuries, Marula oil has been used in parts of Southern Africa to protect people from the harmful effects of the sun on their skin and hair. Marula oil contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and high antioxidants. Personally, I haven’t heard of too many products that use Marula oil, making this body butter even more awesome.
What I like the most is that this product has no preservatives. In addition, there is no water in it and does not evaporate. It is free of chemicals and parabens, which is a huge, plus in my book.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. The body butter really kept my skin moisturized for hours. Even after I washed my hands a few times, my skin still felt soft and smooth.
For their Cyber Monday sale (December 2) they are offering a Buy One Get One Free deal on this body butter.
Hmmm…I just started moisturizing (per my wife’s suggestion) and have been looking for a more eco-friendly product. This might be it! Trying to toss the old coca butter!
