Niagara Conservation’s Electric Green House Kit contains everything you need to start saving energy in your home. Packaged in a reusable, recycled paperboard box, the kit contains a refrigerator thermometer, a lime light, three CFL light bulbs (3 different wattages), draft stoppers, an air filter whistle and an energy wheel.
I found this kit to be really convenient, and all of the components were easy to install. The most difficult thing I had to install were the draft stoppers, which required nothing more than unscrewing a few switch plates. The thermometer, draft stoppers and air filter whistle took seconds to install, and will save energy and money in the long run. The lighting solutions included in this kit involved no installation at all. The energy-saving CFl lightbulbs all offered a warm glow, but did not fit several of the lamps I had in my home. Their large screw-in bases do not easily fit into all types of lamps, so if you are considering making the switch to these types of bulbs, I suggest making sure your lamps can accommodate them. I found the lime light night light to be the least useful of products offered in this kit. Although it uses only 26¢ worth of electricity a year, it did not sufficiently light any path or room in my home, but served rather as a marker for where an outlet was. All in all, this kit is worth the $31 it sells for. For the beginning energy conservator, it’s a good bet.
