Guayaki pronounced Gwy-uh-KEE is a region in the rainforests of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil and the home of the yerba mate tree. This tree has a long tradition of healing powers similar to green teas. Mate’s benefits include clearing your mind, boosting your energy, allergy support, weight control and boosting the immune system. Check out more benefits by clicking here.
I have to admit, I was nervous about trying this difficult to pronounce drink, but I figured it can’t be that bad. I was surprised, it’s actually very tasty. It tastes like a generic black iced tea, but very sweet and with some unique characteristics. I can’t really point out what they are, it’s sweet, heavy, yet refreshing. I tried both the Traditional and the Pure Mind Pom flavors and they were very similar. The Pure Mind has so many antioxidants that my senses instantly started working again, my nose stopped doing it’s normal summertime allergy sneezing thing it always does and I gained some nice energy to continue my busy work day.
The Mate has approximately the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, but there are other vitamins and minerals mixed in with balance out the buzz from the caffeine. There are more antioxidants in a bottle of Mate then then a cup of orange juice or green tea.
The Mate is organic and Guayaki also sells free trade, traditional Gourds and other Mate accessories. I’d really suggest trying out the beverage. Here’s a list of where you can find it locally or you can purchase it from the website. It gets shipped in eco-friendly packaging. Guayaki also gives back to the people and the rainforests.
There will be more reviews to come, so stay tuned.
