Planet makes cleaning supplies such as laundry detergents, general household cleaners, and recycled paper towels. Planet certified biodegradable, heavy duty laundry detergent is scent free and dye free. Planet’s slogan is environmentally friendly cleaning products that work!
All of Planet’s cleaning products are strong and effective, hypo-allergenic, biodegradable, cruelty-free, non toxic to aquatic life, phosphate free and vegan. That is what separates them from other brands. They are a large company, but they put the environment firrst.
The laundry detergent worked well and the small sample I was sent was enough for two loads. If your clothes aren’t too dirty, just use less and you will be fine. My clothes came out without any bleeding of color and smelling fresh. Since the detergent is unscented, my clothes just smelled clean. Planet is a nice change from smellier detergents made with harsh chemicals.
Planet can be purchased at Whole Foods and many large health food stores. Check it out at PlanetInc.com. Stay tuned for more reviews from Planet Inc.
**** UPDATE *****
* Vegan: we do not refer to Planet products as Vegan. While we don’t test on animals or use animal products, we do use contract facilities to package, ship etc. our products. While chances of cross-contamination are slim to none, we have not in fact certified that absolutely everything in the supply chain right down to the grease on rollers where the boxes are printed are vegan. So we don’t make that claim.
* Planet characteristics you listed do separate it from mainstream brands. However, the main thing that separates Planet from other “green” brands (or mainstream brands that make “green” claims) is that we have the only readily-available, full line of household cleaning products that are CERTIFIED as biodegradable. There is almost no government oversight of that label claim, and just about anything breaks down given enough time. So anyone can print that claim on their product label. Therefore we have gone to a respected, independent, third-party organization, Scientific Certification Systems, that has very high standards for biodegradability, and we formulate our products to meet those standards. This is why Planet does not contain colorants, enzymes, optical brighteners, or added scents, because all those tend to increase the amount of time it takes for a product to biodegrade. (They also happen to be ingredients that people with allergies or sensitive skin tend to have the most trouble with. Because Planet does not contain those ingredients, Planet is less likely to cause an allergic reaction, so Planet is considered hypo-allergenic. ) Certification lets consumers know that the Planet “biodegradable” claim is meaningful and not just marketing.
* We are actually a small, not a large company. We are the second-largest “green” household products company in the industry. But we are a teeny tiny drop in the bucket compared to the huge household giants like Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, etc.
* Planet may be purchased nationwide at Wild Oats stores (rather than Whole Foods, although it might be found in the occasional store here or there.) Planet is also found nationwide in several grocery chains, in natural foods stores, and online at www.Amazon.com, www.Needs.com, www.Drugstore.com, and others.
Great post, even better when I read I can pick up this stuff at Whole Foods which is just minutes from where I live. I usually like for websites like this to include the ingredient list for their products which I didn’t see but then again I can just take a trip and see for myself 🙂
